Conference Theme:

The Sublime Sermons of Anglican Poet-Priests

St Peter’s Cathedral, Charlottetown, PEI

Tuesday, June 23rd to Friday, June 26th · 2026

This year’s conference is a tribute to the Works of Robert Crouse project which was initiated by Canon Gary Thorne. Three of five projected volumes have now already been published: Images of Pilgrimage, Soul’s Pilgrimage Vols 1 & 2. We hold this conference also in anticipation of the fourth installment, scheduled for publication in 2027, which will be an edition of Dr. Crouse’s papers, responses, and summaries of all ATC conferences since 1981 (editor-in-chief, Dr. Neil Robertson). As an exploration of the Anglicanism which defined Dr. Crouse, we will consider, amongst others, poetical sermons and writings of Lancelot Andrewes, John Donne, George Herbert, Jeremy Taylor, John Keble and Austin Farrer— all of these priests were governed by poetic insights. The conference final session on the morning of Friday, June 26th will deal explicitly with the Crouse academic and ecclesiastical legacy.
